If you’ve never experienced a log cabin vacation in a private mountain setting, you have to check out the accommodations at Fall Creek Cabins. Located near Boone, Fall Creek Cabins will soon have two new, two-story cedar log cabins nestled in the woods of its 54-acre mountain retreat. Although the expansion brings the number of cedar log cabins in the property to eight, you’ll still feel as if you’re in a secluded retreat, because the cabins have been built far enough apart to ensure privacy. Completion of the new cabins is expected in late fall or early winter

Each of the existing homes at Fall Creek Cabins is unique in its setting and wooded mountain views, yet similar in design, feature and amenities. Each offers two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living/dining room and fully equipped kitchen. On the covered porch of each cabin there is a private, heated hot tub large enough to accommodate five people. Amenities include a washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, stone fireplace (ample firewood provided), TV/VCR, linens, gas grill and your very own picnic table. Depending on which cabin you choose, you will find either a king- or queen-size bed in the master bedroom and a queen or twin beds in the second bedroom.

All of the cabins have oak and pine furnishings and hardwood floors, but each has a distinct décor. Mountain Laurel is decorated in a restful country green, while Blueberry Hideaway offers soothing country blue. Serenity Ridge and Pine Crest have romantic country rose, and Creekside Overlook features refreshing raspberry. Deer Run has a unique Indian/wildlife motif.

Fall Creek Cabins is centrally located near the towns of Boone, Blowing Rock, Jefferson and Wilkesboro. Surrounded by thousands of acres of natural beauty and wilderness, Fall Creek Cabins is just one mile from four-lane U.S. 421, and five miles east of the Blue Ridge Parkway, making it convenient and easily accessible.

During your stay at Fall Creek Cabins, you’ll find plenty to do right on the property. Guests enjoy exploring the hiking trials, which include footbridges over the creek, a creekside picnic site and a small waterfall. Others like to fish Fall Creek, the state-stocked trout stream that borders the property for 1,600 feet. A state license is required, and the stream is available year-round except for March, when it is restocked.

Boating, swimming and water skiing are available at W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir, just 12 miles from Fall Creek. The waterway offers 55 miles of shoreline and nine boat access points.

Golfers have their choice of several courses in nearby towns, and there are plenty of antique, country and specialty shops to keep even the avid shopper happy.

Nearby attractions include Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, Linville Falls, gem mining, Linville Caverns, Stone Mountain and more.

Canoeing, biking, rafting and skiing are some of the other activities enjoyed nearby by guests.

In addition to the many activities and attractions you will find an excellent selection of fine restaurants, such as the famous Daniel Boone Inn restaurant. So whether you decide to cook or grill at your cabin, or to try one of the local restaurants, your location couldn’t be more convenient.

Timothy and Beverly Thompson, owners of Fall Creek Cabins, have been North Carolina residents for five years. They love seeing their guests enjoying their retreat.

"To know that we are part of a couple starting their new life together, or another celebrating their anniversary or special occasion brings us so much satisfaction that our endeavors are worthwhile," said Mrs. Thompson. "So many families have the opportunity to spend quality time together at our facility and to renew their relationships and love for one another. Whether they are hiking, fishing or just putting a puzzle together, it’s time that families aren’t able to find during their hectic everyday lives. What better place to do this than in rural country setting enjoying God’s creation of the mountains, streams and wildlife."
